Checklist
for a proper outdoor/ Indoor
Photography
Some
Folks think that possessing the most sophisticated cameras is the ultimate at
any occasion, but that is a mere fallacy. It is not so because what you think
you possess may not suite your needs at that particular time and occasion. At
times, you will be found wanting or regretting. A professional photographer has
a checklist whenever he or she wants to go on a shoot.
As a matter of fact, your checklist will be determined to a
large extent by the kind of shoot you are going for. But you will know the
basic things you need to have.
Camera bag
Firstly,
you have to decide if you want to carry your DSLR camera on your purse, pocket
or in a bag. Of course you will surely choose a bag. Therefore, the first thing
on your checklist is your CAMERA BAG.
But at times, the DSLR may not
be needed if it will just be a snappy occasion that will not require heavy
loads like the DSLR cameras. At this point, the Simple point and shoot will do.
So the issue of including the camera bag on the checklist may be annulled.
The camera
itself
The second thing you should start
thinking about is the camera itself.
It is now left for you to decide on the camera that will suite your occasion.
But I will recommend you to be professional every time because that is when you
tend to maximize your
shooting potentials. You should of course include the camera on the checklist
based on the scale of preference. Make sure that it is in a shooting condition.
Check the batteries to ensure if they are properly in place and well charged. It
happened to me back in the days and my life never remained the same. I happened
to be called to cover an event. Things happened to work the way I scheduled
them, time was really on my side, I gallantly transported myself confidently to
the venue only for me to realize at the nick of time that I forgot my batteries
on the desktop chargers of the Canon Eos 30D
camera. Disappointment swept me off my feet. It seemed as if hell was
set loosed, and I didn’t have the opportunity to buy a new battery because it
is not as common as the AA batteries. Such circumstances can be avoidable if
you use your checklist properly.
The
Storage device/Memory Card
The Storage
device/Memory Card is something you need to include in your checklist. It may
seem like the smallest part of a camera but it plays a major role in your
photography. If you decide to ignore it because of the “small-ness”, then get
ready to be in a mess. Whether you like it or not, the memory cards of every
other camera storage devices remains indispensable in a proper checklist. It Is
also advisable to add an extra memory card just in case if one gets full along
the line, you can always slot in the next available one.
The
lens range
The lens
range should be the next on the list because you need to go along with the
required range depending on the occasion. Some folks usually think that
shooting with the “18-55mm” lens is seldom the ultimate, so they make it their
default lens. It’s actually unprofessional. You need to juxtapose between the
range at which the normal “18-55mm” lens and the “75-300mm” lens will shoot.
The 18-55mm lens will be a good one for an indoor shoot or close shots, but it
may not be suitable for an outdoor distant shoot. This is when the lens range
joins the checklist. You should carry along a range that can take distant
shots, close shots and wide view, so you should start thinking of a “16-33mm,
18-55mm, and the 75-300mm lenses.
The
camera charger: The
camera charger should be next on your checklist. Most times, we assume that our
batteries had been well charged for the occasion but our assumptions may be
defied by the disappointment that it is discharged., at this point, the charger
is needed and can as well be charged easily at least before the event starts.
We can as well charge the extra battery if we have any. It also depend on the
kind of battery the camera use.
