National Under-23 team coach Samson Siasia has dropped
seven players ahead of Nigeria’s 2015 All Africa Games
qualifier against Congo next month.
The Nigeria Football Federation said on its official website on
Sunday the players were sent packing after the team’s 3-3
draw against Premier League club Wikki Tourists in Bauchi
on Saturday.
The players are Sani Faisal, Lukmon Gilmore, Emmanuel
Ammana, Tonbara Tiongoli, Freedom Omofonma, Uche Okeke
and Gabriel Sunday.
“I have given all these players enough time to showcase
what they can bring on the table, but I am so disappointed
that they were not able to convince me,” the former Super
Eagles striker told thennf.com.
“They have to give way to others to show me and my
coaching staff what they can offer. I thank them for their
contribution to the success of the team in the past, but we
have to move on.
“If they show signs of improvement in their clubs, they can
be recalled.”
Meanwhile, Siasia has directed eight players, who
represented the country at the New Zealand 2015 FIFA
Under-20 World Cup, to join up with their Under-23
teammates on Monday.
