Like some of her other
colleagues in the current government, Aisha Alhassan, the women affairs
and social development minister, has absolved President Muhammadu Buhari
of any blame concerning the current economic challenges facing the
country.
Daily Post reports that the minister spoke in Effurun, Delta state at a
meeting with women in the All Progressives Congress (APC) drawn from the
25 local government areas of the state.
She pleaded with
Nigerians not to blame the president for an economic mess, which
according to her, was caused by the administration of former President
Goodluck Jonathan.
Represented by the
coordinator for Women Empowerment, Chief Akukalia Angela, Alhassan said:
“The present process of economic recession is not caused by the APC-led
government; rather, it was caused by the immediate past government, who
looted the nation’s treasury and threw the people into hardship.
“The APC will do everything humanly possible to put Nigeria back on the
right positive track.”
Speaking at the event, Dr Janeth Oyubu, who is the APC women leader in
Delta, complained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state
had hijacked all the palliatives initiated by the Buhari government.
“Don’t be carried away
with peanuts from the ailing PDP. I can assure you that APC has all it
takes to transform your well-being by empowering you so that you can be
helpful to your family and the society,” she said.
