CRIME:Police nabs generator thefts in the guise of patronising them three-man-gang-arrested-generator-theft-ikotun

The duo were arrested after a complaint by a resident in the area – The generators stolen have been valued at about N1.5 million naira – An undercover police officer was said to have patronized the suspects and eventually mobilized the operatives that got them arrested Operatives of the Lagos state police command, Idimu division have apprehended three suspects for allegedly stealing two sound proof generators in Ikotun. The generator theft syndicate, Sunday Ojo, Usman Momoh and Gabriel Jokotoye were said to have been arrested after a complaint by a resident in the area, stating that two sound proof generators (17.5KVA and 16KVA) valued at N550, 000 and N500,000 respectively, were stolen from his shop on Wednesday, September 14. According to The Nation, the generators were found at Alhaji Bakinson street, off Olarewaju street Oregun. Jokotoye was said to have driven the Crane Hayab truck marked AGL942XN, used to steal the items. The duo, Ojo and Momoh were said to have been apprehended at the point where they displayed the generators and other stolen items and were trying to sell a generator to a police officer who disguised to be a customer. The items recovered from the suspects were four generators, the crane and a Honda Accord car marked BDG158CF. Confirming their arrest, the police public relations officer, Dolapo Badmus said two other accomplices were at large, adding that the suspects will be charged to court for conspiracy and stealing. “One David who led the suspects to the place the generators were kept and one Toyeeb, who provided the place the stolen generators were dropped at Alhaji Bakinson Street, off Olarewaju Street, Oregun Ikeja, are still at large. The suspects will be charged to court for conspiracy and stealing,” she said. In a related development, the state police command has recently apprehended a suspect, identified as Deji Ayoola, for allegedly stealing from a commuter in Lagos. The 28-year-old Ayoola was arrested by the police operatives in the Ojodu Berger area of the state after allegedly stealing a wallet containing N14,500 from a passer-by identified as Ayodele Akerele.
