Stop playing politics with disputed land, Ogbe-Ijoh tells Delta govt
THE people of Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, have advised the state government to be decisive in handling the lingering Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja land dispute and stop playing politics with the matter.
National coordinator, Concerned Members for Peace in Ogbe-Ljoh Kingdom, Friday Deinghan, who gave the charge, yesterday, expressed fears over the way the commission of inquiry set up by the state government to look into the matter, was going, adding that the commission might end up like the two previous commissions set up by the government.
“We are appealing to the state government to take a firm decision on this matter because from what we are seeing, some individuals from Aladja community have seen the compromising nature of the state government are beginning to take laws into their hands.” “It will shock you to note that this is the third commission of inquiry that has been setup by the state government to look into the matter after previous two setup in 1996 and 2007 respectively did not yield any result and from what we are witnessing, we fear this committee might go the same way as the previous two. “The Delta State Government should please stop playing politics with issues that concerns the lives and property of its citizenries as it has all the necessary laws and documents as regards the disputed land in question.”
