George Michael's Boyfriend Fadi Fawaz Finds the Singer Dead in Bed: "Everything Is Ruined"

New details surrounding George Michael's death have been revealed.

The "Careless Whisper" singer's boyfriend, celebrity hairstylist Fadi Fawaz, announced on Twitter Monday that was the one who discovered the 53-year-old pop icon's dead body in his Oxfordshire home on Christmas Day. "ITs a xmas i will never forget finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning.." Fawaz tweeted. "I will never stop missing you xx."

Fawaz opened up to the U.K.'s The Daily Telegraph Tuesday in his first interview since Michael's passing. "We were supposed to be going for Christmas lunch. I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed," he said. "We don't know what happened yet."

Michael's rep said the singer died of heart failure and passed away "peacefully." Investigators later told the BBC there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the pop singer's death.

"Everything had been very complicated recently, but George was looking forward to Christmas, and so was I. Now everything is ruined," said Fawaz, who began dating the "Father Figure" musician in 2011. "I want people to remember him the way he was. He was a beautiful person."

Of course, Fawaz is not the only one in mourning.

Kenny Goss, whom Michael dated for 13 years, issued a statement Monday afternoon. "I'm heartbroken with the news that my dear friend and long-time love George Michael has passed. He was a major part of my life and I loved him very, very much. He was an extremely kind and generous man," Goss, 58, told E! News. "The beautiful memories and music he brought to the world will always be an important part of my life and those who also loved and admired him."

Michael's sudden passing came at a time when he was preparing to return to the public eye. In September, Sony announced an anniversary reissue of Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 would be going on sale in 2017. To coincide with the album's re-release, Showtime announced it would be airing the Phillip Smith-directed film Freedom: George Michael, which tells the story of the making of Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1—including Michael's court battle with Sony—and the events surrounding the loss of his partner, Anselmo Feleppo, after the album's release in 1990.

Tony Bennett, Mary J. Blige, Naomi Campbell, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Liam Gallagher, Jean Paul Gaultier, Elton John, Tatjana Patitz, Mark Ronson, Christy Turlington and Stevie Wonder contributed to the film, which Michael himself narrated.

Chelsea manager hopes record run sparks title glory

Antonio Conte has challenged his Chelsea stars to use their club record run of 12 successive victories as the foundation to win the Premier League title.

Conte's side moved seven points clear at the top after a 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Monday and they are now just two more victories away from equalling Arsenal's Premier League record of 14 consecutive wins.

Should the Blues defeat Stoke and Tottenham in their next two games, they will have earned a significant statistical landmark.
But it is trophies that matter most to former Juventus and Italy boss Conte and he has set his sights on leading Chelsea to the Premier League crown they last won in May 2015.

"I prefer to win the title than the record," Conte told Chelsea TV.
"Records are important, but not all. It's important to write history only when you win.
"To be in the history of the club and to win 12 games in a row is fantastic. But with the players we want to continue."

Bournemouth switched to three at the back to try to match the Chelsea formation that has proved such a success since Conte first deployed it earlier this season.
But Conte's men still proved too strong and the Italian views teams changing tactics as a mark of respect.
It is a nice problem for Conte to have, and one that is familiar after his time at Juventus, who won 33 of 38 games under him in 2013-14.

"After 12 wins in a row, every team who play against Chelsea try also to change their formation. It happened also in Italy when I was manager of Juventus," Conte said.
"We must be prepared for the formation of our opponent (to change). I think this means great respect for us."

Buhari PDP wants president to thank Jonathan for defeat of Boko Haram The PDP also said that Jonathan had already achieved great success in defeating the sect before Buhari came into office.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that President Muhammadu Buhari can’t take all the credit for the Nigerian Army’s victory over Boko Haram.
The PDP also said that former President Goodluck Jonathan had already achieved great success in defeating the sect before Buhari came into office.
“The President cannot solely claim responsibility for the success he claimed the Armed Forces recorded in reclaiming Sambisa Forest from the Boko Haram. This is because the regime of former President Jonathan had done a lot in the war against terror,” PDP spokesman, Dayo Adeyeye told Punch.
“This was why elections were held in almost all the local government areas in Borno State and the entire North-East in 2015. Though there has been no independent verification of the claim, the President ought to give kudos to the regime of Jonathan that bought the weapons being used to fight the war.
“We are all aware that propaganda is a tool being used by this government to deceive Nigerians. We hope this is also not another one,” he added.

The Buhari administration has been celebrating the defeat of Boko Haram since the army took over the sect’s stronghold, Sambisa Forest on Friday, December 23.

Police brutality: Senator Dino Melaye gets N10m in damages

Senator Dino Melaye has been awarded N10m in damages by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court – Melaye was granted the sum, following a lawsuit filed against the Inspector General of Police  The controversial Senator was arrested by the police for a peaceful protest against ex-minister of aviation, Stella Oduah

Following the ruling of a Federal High Court which sat in Abuja on Wednesday, October 5, Senator Dino Melaye will be getting a N10million award in damages. Justice Gabriel Kolawole granted N10 million in damages to Melaye, over a lawsuit filed by the senator against the Inspector General of Police.
Senator Melaye had filed the lawsuit in 2014 after the police stopped him from protesting against former Aviation minister, Stella Oduah, who was fingered in a scam in which she authorized the purchase of two overpriced bulletproof BMW cars for her personal use.

Police had manhandled and briefly detainedMelaye as he led a group of protesters against the former minister, who is now a senator representing Anambra state. The police had justified their actions on the grounds that Mr. Melaye and fellow protesters had not obtained permission to stage their protest. Sahara Reporters report that Justice Kolawole ruled that the police had violated Mr. Melaye’s rights, and awarded N10 million in damages to the senator. However, in a parting shot, the judge reportedly mocked Mr Melaye as a “self-styled” anti-corruption activist. He said he awarded the cost to the plaintiff because Nigerians have a right to peaceful protest, but also noted that  Melaye has now become a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The usually charismatic and vociferous senator made little noise about his court victory. Meanwhile, the senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district has bought a new supercar which is worth about N180million. Premium Times reports that Melaye, who already owns a fleet of luxury and antiquated cars worth billions of Naira, has acquired a 93-year-old Rolls Royce. The Rolls Royce has the customized license plates “MELAYE 2” and is believed to cost some $400,000.

President Buhari's speech at Leadership Awards

The 2016 Leadership Awards held today, October 6. The event which was chaired by former Head of State General Abudulsalami Abubakar (rtd) was attended by top dignitaries. President Muhammadu Buhari, his predecessor, Dr Goodluck Jonathan and the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, were honoured with the ‘Leadership person of the year’ award.
Buhari delivered the closing remark and below are some takeaways from his speech.
 1. About the political actors in the 2015 election

Those of us who were participating actors in the elections were led by the higher ideal of the future of our great country and the well-being of our people rather than the mere desire of politicians to win elections.

2. Prophets of doom were disappointed

It is, therefore, our commitment to this ideal, the patriotic zeal of President Jonathan, the impartiality of the electoral umpire, INEC and exemplary conduct of the political parties, foreign pressure and other actors that we collectively disappointed the prophets of doom who had predicted the disintegration of the country after the 2015 general elections.

3. 2015 election strengthened democracy

Our democracy has been strengthened by the outcome of the 2015 elections as our people now have more faith in the electoral system in the sense that their votes would count when choosing political leaders at various levels. We, the political class should build on the experience of the 2015 elections to nurture our democracy.

4. Nigerian media urged to support the government

He called on the Nigerian media to join his government in pursuit of its goals and not just to criticize to prove their independence. The goals are to defeat terrorism and violent extremism in the country, fight corruption and diversify the economy to create jobs for our teeming population and generally improve the standard of living of Nigerians.

Fashola Workers demand minister, permanent secretary's immediate sack [PHOTOS]

The workers are demanding Fashola's sack over poor working condition and the alleged high-handedness.

Workers at the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing on Thursday, October 6, 2016, demanded the sack of the minister, Babatunde Fashola and the permanent secretary, Abubakar Magaji.

The workers, consisting of workers from the two arms of the ministry-Works and Housing, were protesting the poor condition of service and the alleged high-handedness, and aloofness of the leaders.

"All the contractors handling major projects are Magaji's friends,"No more corruption, it must stop," read some of the placards.
Comrade Aliyu Abdulazeez and Sam Apeh (in-house union leaders) were said to have been arrested on the order of the minister.

"There are a lot of issues in contention. When this man joined us in February, it has been lies upon lies. He came, for him to address the staff, took him a lot of time," said Comrade Alaka Olumuyiwa, the chairman, Union Council,  Works and Housing."And in terms of welfare, he has deliberately refused to pay burial benefits, first 28days and promotion arrears. Even our staff that have retired and supposed to get reparation, have not been paid.

"This is October, we have not started any training and we heard that money has been released for that purpose. The ministry is stagnant."

He also lamented the merging of Works and Housing ministries under the same headship, adding that the housing sector had been neglected on account of that.
However, a source in the ministry stated that the workers were protesting because it was no longer 'business as usual' in the ministry.

CYNTHIA MORGAN: Singer’s is deliberately ruining her career

I watch another Cynthia Morgan video again, and the feeling isn’t one of interest, bewilderment or indifferent. What I feel is disgust. There was something revulsive about the video treatment, the brands and everyone general involved in that production.
Cynthia Morgan has stalled in her career. She isn’t growing, as every new song and video does not move her brand and personality to the next level. Instead, it either has no effect, or takes away from it. It hurts her, rather than improve its creator.Cynthia’s career is in self-inflicted danger. She is her own enemy, and this is why:

Cynthia’s Morgan branding is atrocious. You can call it edgy, sharp and intrusive to justify it. But an unwelcome flowing red hair, revealing outfits and that outrageous nose-ring isn’t the best of combinations for this market. Nigerians are a reserved bunch, and no matter how we tend to express our tolerance and acceptance of diversity, our parochial conservative origins and culture still rules us. We aren’t collectively tolerant of extremes.

Cynthia Morgan’s branding is extreme. She maintains the ‘bad girl’ image gotten from her Jamaican influences. Kingston (the capital of the home of dancehall) is an edgy city that Cynthia expresses as her spirit home. But she doesn’t reside in the spirit. She exists and operates in the physical, and no matter how much “Kingston Property!” she screams in her songs, her hustle is in Nigeria, and that branding comes off as ‘too much’. Sometimes it crosses that ‘edgy’ realm, and can best be described as ‘dirty’. Nobody likes a dirty artiste.

Cynthia’s second liability is the application of her artistry. Just like her branding, she takes her artistry to the left. The full range of Cynthia Morgan’s musical abilities contains more than just Dancehall.Contrary to what many fans know, her many strengths involve the use of vocals and songwriting skills to create music that traverses genres. Cynthia Morgan’s first true big song was not a dancehall song. It was a mushy urban Highlife single titled ‘Don’t break my part’. The song was released as a dual promo campaign together with another single ‘Lead me on’ in 2013. Her previous single was titled ‘Kuchi Kuchi’, and although it was ‘Dancehall’, it failed to spark.

‘Don’t break my heart’ lacked all the fiery characteristics of the Cynthia Morgan that we all know. It was girlie, mushy and heartwarming. There were no guns, threats of violence and bodily harm. Also lacking was the signature red colour, and the cascading hair. Cynthia was just a lovely, cute girl, with a song and a heart that is pink. Heck, she wasn’t even a ‘Kingston property’ back then.‘Don’t break my heart’ gave Morgan her first true break, and that skyrocketed into this. She quickly switched things up with the single ‘I’m taken’, and scored another great jam in ‘German Juice’.

But things haven’t been so well with the singer’s next releases. Her next singles have noticeably not been accepted by the Nigerian public, irrespective of all the promotional moves and videos shot to make it come alive. Singles ‘Come and do’, ‘Simati Niya’, ‘Baby mama’, ‘Asampo’, have come and gone with no noticeable impact.

The most damning move of all was the singer’s controversial photo promotion for ‘Baby mama’, which gave her attention, but was not adequate to carry the song. The video for the single was a horrible piece of visual, best left alone to stew in its mediocrity and dirt. Many would have blamed tough luck, and continued to throw music at the fans until one stuck again, but the singer tried a different route.
Cynthia Morgan’s new single ‘Olowo’ is different from anything she has ever done. It is so different, that you need explaining or second confirmation to agree that Cynthia made that song. Produced by QaseBeatz, the song has Cynthia in tune with her Afrobeat side.
Abandoning every link to Dancehall, Cynthia comfortably adds skill and dynamism to the layered arrangement, digging deep into a part of her craft that she has been too fast to abandon. Cynthia still finds ways to fuse her patois into the song, but its occurrence is so minimal, that one would be hard pressed to consider it a part of this song. This diversity is great for Cynthia. With ‘Ólowo’ she finds a new formula to connect with fans in their comfort zone. That song was a win for artistry.
And then she reverted back with ‘Bubble Bup’, another dancehall song with Stonebwoy. While we appreciate the collaboration with an act from a sister nation, that wasn’t the shot Cynthia needed. She needed to display another level of her creativity, not slap Nigeria with more dancehall.
The dancehall is great, but she is operating in a market that does not appreciate it deeply enough or hold it in high esteem. Let her ask her predecessors, especially General Pype, how acceptance of dancehall dwindles and extinguishes with each passing record. She needs to learn from Patoranking.

Patoranking is a dancehall singer who had balanced his craft, diversified his influences, made pop music, and stolen the hearts of the nation. From his 2013 hit song, ‘Alubarika’, which had an engaging reggae vibe, to the 2015 Highlife instrumentals supplied by the Ebonyi State Band on ‘Make am’, he had made music designed to play at the mainstream level, and appeal to the general populace.

This has had its benefits. A deal with VP Records was in the bag, he spent 2015 modelling for alcoholic beverage, Skyy Vodka. Last year Headies also saw his songs ‘My woman my everything’, and ‘Daniella Whine’ nominated. His debut album is out now, and he is still pushing his craft down to Jamaica, the home of his niche genre. On his album, he digs into his influences from the ghetto and recreates Ajegunle, Konto, and dancehall music, polishing and modernizing these sounds to create an album that is in keeping with his original sound. There’s a welcome contrasting feeling that lingers due to the popular perception of Patoranking as a pop act, who achieves his brilliance via dancehall roots. That feeling has been propagated by the success of his singles.

“I started as a reggae dancehall artiste, and the truth is, the country is not rich when it comes to that culture. They love the sound because it’s different, and it’s new to them. And you know Nigerians. If you want to be here for a very long time, they don’t need to see you coming. I want to make music for everybody.” He revealed to Pulse.

For branding, Patoranking keeps it clean and upscale, which automatically increases his appeal and value. Cynthia Morgan has to play by that book. The skill is present. All she needs is to tweak it, and apply it with balance. As for the branding, everything needs to change.
Everything.

In Abuja Court remands man in prison for allegedly cheating another of N4 million The defendant is arraigned on a four-count charge, with his three accomplices still at large

A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday remanded one Fashola Fatoba in prison over alleged cheating and N4 million fraud.
Fatoba denied committing the crime, while the judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, adjourned the case till Oct. 6 for the hearing of the defendant’s bail application.

The defendant was arraigned on a four-count charge, bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, theft and belonging to a gang of fraudsters.

Prosecutor John Ijagbemi told the court that one Emmanuel Okafor of Garki, Abuja, reported the matter at the Police Command Headquarters, Abuja, on Sept. 8.

He said while the plaintiff was at Area 3, Garki, Abuja on the said date, the defendant approached him pretending to be a dealer on herbal medicine.

The prosecutor said that the plaintiff became interested because he was sick at that time.
He further said the defendant told the plaintiff that his illness was also spiritual, and lured him to Apo, Abuja, where Ibrahim Fadele, Muyiwa and Kassem, now at large, deceived him to bring N4 million.
The prosecutor said the defendant and the three others at large, told the plaintiff that they were going to pray with the money, and thereafter return the money to him.

“The plaintiff took the money to the defendant, but suddenly felt suspicious and demanded to leave with his money.
“The defendant, however, forcefully pushed the plaintiff out of the house and escaped with the money,’’ he said.

Ijagbemi also said that the defendant was eventually arrested, but the three others were still at large.
He said the defendant admitted to being a member of gang of fraudsters, and that he shared the money with the three others at large.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 97, 312, 287 and 306 of the Penal Code.

Prosecute El-zakzaky for terrorism - Protesters tell FG
They protesters urged government to arraign and prosecute Ibraheem El-zakzaky, leader of the Shhite movement for terrorism.

Protesters on the platform of Sovereign Rights Coalition (SRC) have urged the federal government to prosecute Ibraheem El-zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) and other members of the group for terrorism.
The group stated this during a march from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Justice Ministry in Abuja on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.

The IMN had allegedly launched attacks on the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai in Kaduna in December 2016. This led to the killing of some members of the group and the arrest of the leader, Sheikh El-zakzaky.

Daniel Obaje, the coordinator of the group described as 'blackmail' comments by human rights group and western media on developments in the country as it's concern security.
"It is pertinent for the immediate arraignment and prosecution of the leader of the sect on terror charges as deemed appropriate," Obaje said.

"It is not news that the group, Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) led by its leader Ibraheem El-Zakzakky had launched an attack on the Chief of Army Staff and his convoy in Kaduna where in the course of the operation where he was arrested and a cache of arms was recovered.
"It has been nearly a year since this unfortunate event and these debauchers have continued to exhibit this impermissible crass negligence of the nation’s sovereignty in their hooded attempts to annex the nation to form their own republic.

"These extremists have so far been allowed to further distabilise the nation and its integrity via sponsored protests and media campaign accompanied with blackmail using international organisations and media.
The protesters also called on the federal government to severe diplomatic relationship with the Republic of Iran over the role played by the country during the attack on the army chief.

"We have also discovered that the relationship between our country and the Republic of Iran has become cancerous and will only be beneficial if such detrimental tie is severed to prevent further damage.
"It also chief amongst our demand that apart from ceasing all diplomatic relationships with the Iranian republic, a total removal of her embassy from Nigerian soil is pertinent and apt.

"All blackmails by bodies including human right groups as well as western media come to an end as it amounts to an affront on the sovereignty of Nigeria," he added.
Receiving the protesters on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, a director in the ministry, Princess Okorie promised to channel all their grievances to the appropriate quarters.

President buhari set 2 presidential jets for sales

2 presidential jets for sale
Buhari to donate some to Air Force

From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja, Job Osazuwa and Luis Iba

The Federal Government is selling two aircraft in the Presidential Fleet. It has directed that payments be made in United States dollars. The development may not be unconnected with moves by the Presidency to cut down on expenses.
Aircraft to be disposed off are Falcon 7x and Hawker 4000, “belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria,” according to an advertisement in a national newspaper yesterday. Interested buyers were asked to inspect the Falcon at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International, Airport, Abuja, and the Hawker at Cessna Zurich Citation Service Centre, Zurich, Switzerland.
Features of Falcon 7X (5N-FGU) which cost $53.8 million (2015) are: Entry into service, 2011; number of owner, one; time since new, 2776:47 hours; cycle since new, 2363; engines completed HIS, May 2016; engine time to overhaul, 4529 hours; engine/APU programme, nill; and ready for sale immediately.
Its performance data are: range, 5850NM; take off sea level, 5, 555 feet; landing distance, 2, 070 feet; certified ceiling, 51, 000 feet; cruise speed, 488kts and easy 11 Avionics/FAANS 1A compliant/statcom. While the interior highlights passenger capacity, 16; crew seating capacity, 3; forward and aft lavatories; four large screens monitors, six small adjustable seat mounted monitors and fully automated media centre.
Hawker 4000 (5N-FGX): RC 066’s features are: Entry into service, 2012; number of owner, one; time since new, 1178:15 hours; cycles since new, 1146; engines time to overhaul, 4821 hours; engine programme, nil. The performance chart reveals: Range, 3190NM; take off at sea level, 5, 068 feet; landing distance, 2, 475 feet; certified ceiling, 45, 000 feet and cruise speed at 482kts. While the interior features are: Passenger capacity, 9; crew seating capacity, 3 (detachable jump seat); aft lavatory, two monitors, power outlet in cabin and cockpit and fully automated media centre.
“All bids must be submitted within four weeks from the date of publication (October 4, 2016),” as noted in the advertisement.
Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) vested with the power to sell the aircraft, said all bids should be quoted in US dollars.
Government’s directive for payments to be made in foreign currency might not be unconnected with the fact that the naira had been losing value lately.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had earlier said the aircraft in the fleet would soon be reduced.
“There is a government committee already in place, working to reduce the number of aircraft in the Presidential fleet,” he wrote on Twitter.
Shehu also said some of the other aircraft would be handed over to the Nigeria Air Force soon. He said the sale was in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari that aircraft in the Presidential air fleet be reduced to cut down on waste.
Meanwhile, the sales could fetch about $30 million depending on how good the state of the air worthiness of the aircraft are. Checks by Daily Sun in Wikepedia revealed that while the original unit cost of the Falcon 7X jet goes for about $53 million, the Hawker 400 unit cost would be about $23 million. Industry sources, however, said asking prices for fairly-used Hawker 4000 aircraft are in $4 million to $6.5 million range, 20 – 30% of the original retail price.
The Falcon jet could be sold for between $20 and $25 million. At an aviation stakeholders’ forum held in Lagos last week, some speakers had  demanded that the Presidency sell some of the bigger jets to domestic airline operators as a way to assist them re-fleet. It was, however, not clear if the local airline industry will be willing to buy the two jets offered for sale given the fewer passengers they could carry which might not be sufficient for commercial flight operations.

Governor Wike killed 4 of our members - Rivers APC

– Governor Wike of Rivers state has been accused of murder by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) – The APC claims that Governor Wike was mastermind behind the murder of 4 of its members – Party Chairman, Davies Ikanya says the slain party members were staunch critics of the Wike administration Governor Nyesome Wike has been accused of killing 4 people, the allegation was leveled by the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Neenwi were Manager Nkoba(M), Nornubari Loveday(M) and Cecilia Loveday(F),” Ikanya said in a statement. “Late Boris Neenwi, a strong ally of Senator Magnus Abe and staunch APC member, was a former Councillor who hailed from Yeghe community.
