An accidentat Iyere Edda in Afikpo area of Ebonyi state has led to the death
of eight people
– Many passengers sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident

Eight people have been reportedly killed in an auto-crash, when the driver of a
commercial bus, EBOTRANS, lost control and the vehicle somersaulted at Iyere
Edda in Afikpo south local government area of Ebonyi state.

New Telegraph reports that seven of the victims died on the spot while the
remaining one died a few hours later in an hospital. Other passengers sustained
varying degrees of injury.
According to eyewitness Iheanacho Okam, who resides in the area, the bus was
returning from Aba in Abia state when the accident occurred.

Okam said: “The passengers who sustained injury were taken to an hospital at
Ekoli Edda in the area while others were taken to the Owutu Edda general
hospital for treatment. The corpses of dead ones were deposited at the morgue
of the Owutu Edda general hospitalOkam said officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) had not
visited the scene except policemen who came in their patrol vans.
In a related development. Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Corps Marshal,
Boboye Oyeyemi, has warned Nigerian vehicle owners to install speed limiters in
automobiles.

commercial vehicle operators against ignoring directives to install speed limiters
